This is a run down of what I am committing myself to this year and how you can partner with me in ministry.

During the summer of 2007 I had the privilege to serve at a ministry in Memphis, TN called Service Over Self (SOS).  SOS exists to glorify God by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed through urban home repair camps.  As an expression of Christ’s love, SOS seeks to empower persons and transform neighborhoods by utilizing volunteers to renovate homes of economically disadvantaged homeowners in the Binghampton neighborhood of Memphis.  God has used my involvement at SOS to transform the way I think about ministry and my calling in bringing Him glory.  As Christians we are called to proclaim the gospel to all people.  I believe the Lord is calling me to proclaim the gospel by partnering with SOS this coming fall.
SOS has a one-year internship called the SOS Academy that provides recent graduates the opportunity to spread the gospel in the Binghampton community.

The SOS Academy provides a 12-month discipleship program for these graduates who live, work, and participate in the community.  After seeking the Lord’s direction these past few months I have decided to participate in the SOS Academy beginning August 2009.  As an SOS intern I will work at a non-profit ministry with refugees who have been forced to migrate, because of war, famine, etc.  The nations are coming to America’s cities and there is a great need for the gospel to be proclaimed to these broken and displaced people.

I hope that you will be able to partner with me as I minister to refugees through the SOS Academy.  There are two ways that you can partner with me:
•    Prayer Support – I will be sending a monthly email with praises and prayer updates so you will be able to most effectively intercede for me as I serve in the Binghampton community.
•    Financial Support – Individual and Church financial gifts are necessary for me to be able to serve through the SOS Academy. Since this internship is unpaid, I have attached a detailed budget that will enable me to serve the Binghampton community through the Academy.

John 1:14 says that “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” My purpose for participating in the Academy is to be a tangible example of Christ.
